North Carolina Heavyweight Miree “Pink Panther” Coleman Ready To Win 1st Professional Title April 14 In Norfolk, Virginia
Fayetteville, NC (March 16) – Miree “Pink Panther” Coleman 6-3 (4 KO’s) of Fayetteville, NC believes he is the best Heavyweight boxer in the state of North Carolina. Despite some setbacks, Coleman wants to prove his naysayers wrong. The journey back to the top begins April 14 at the Norfolk Masonic Temple in Norfolk, VA where Coleman will be ready to win his first professional title.
Coleman, better known as the “Pink Panther” for his relentless fight to find a cure for breast cancer, his willingness to wear Pink in a show of support, and his military unit called the Panthers is confident in his abilities and believes his fight against Jerry Forrest for the UBF All-American Heavyweight will put him back on track to reclaim his North Carolina Heavyweight throne, “Once I get this title, the setbacks will come calling, and I will get that Get back,” says a confident Coleman.
Forrest 18-2 (14 KO’s) is no pushover. After losing to highly rated contenders Michael Hunter and Gerald Washington in 2013 and 2014, Forrest has won eleven in a row and eight of the wins have been by KO. The southpaw Forrest is from Newport News, VA, so it will be somewhat of a home-field advantage as the Tidewater area fans will come out to support the fighter they also call “Slug.”
Coleman does not care where he is fighting Forrest. With the fight taking place in Forrest’s native Virginia, the slick talking Coleman sees this as an opportunity to grow his brand. “They all know my name. Virginia, I will see you soon, and you will know who I am.”
Coleman will be shaking off a bit of ring rust. His last fight was in May 2017. At that time, Coleman challenged Brandon “Big bear” Spencer for the ABA Heavyweight title in Spencer’s Hometown of Augusta, GA. Coleman lost a close and highly disputed decision. Many say the decision should have gone the other way, and Coleman is quick to tell everyone, “I was robbed!”
Coleman has a rare second chance at winning his first professional title and reclaiming his throne as the top, North Carolina Heavyweight boxer. The first time around he let those opportunities slip through his hands. This time, the “Pink Panther” is going to put his stamp on it and the only questions will be “Who will be my first title defense – Franks, Caudle, Spencer – Who’s next for the Champ?”
