Veazey recently suffered a heart attack that required triple bypass surgery. He is also is fighting Parkinson’s disease and has been weighed down by medical bills. Veazey and his wife care for their two children Sean and Joey, both of whom fight for Baltimore Boxing.

To help with the fundraising, Baltimore Boxing is hosting a silent memorabilia auction, 50/50 and a $5 ticket raffle where the winner will receive a brand new TV.

Tickets to “Fight for Vince” are on sale now by calling 410-375-9175 or visiting Baltimoreboxing.com. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the first fight takes place at 8.

In the main event of the evening, Ashton “The Goon” Sykes meets Ocean City’s Omar Serrano. Sykes has fought multiple times at Michael’s Eighth including on the August 4 “Rumble Young Man Rumble” card.

The second main bout on “Fight for Vince” pits East Coast Middleweight champion Tyrell Boyd against Genc Pllana. Boyd and Pllana previously met in an all-out slugfest, with Planna winning a razor thin decision.

In a special attraction bout, brain cancer survivor Lori Reed makes her emotional ring debut against an opponent to be named. Reed, who was a manager at a car dealership in Glen Burnie, found out she had stage 4 cancer after going to the hospital while suffering from bad headaches. Reed had many physical and metal challenges, including the spreading of cancer to her lungs. Miraculously, she recovered and the mother of five lives a normal life today.

Reed is dedicating her bout to Vince Veazey.

Courtney Hartlove will also appear on the card and other bouts will be announced shortly.

“September 15 is an extremely important night and this goes beyond boxing,” said Jake Smith. “Vince Veazey has not only worked with the Baltimore Boxing Club for many years, he’s been a great friend and mentor to everybody that walked through the gym doors. He put a lot of time into this sport and made a difference in many lives. Now it’s our turn to help Vince out when he needs it most. He owes a tremendous amount of money from his life saving hospital stay and don’t think it’s fair that it holds him down, especially with all the stress he’s under due to his condition. Please make sure to come out and support “Fighting for Vince” September 15.”
