“Alantez Fox is a tall, strong undefeated middleweight with a lot of potential,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment. “I am happy to get him back in the ring, especially in a great fighting city like Chicago and in front of a nationwide audience on CBS Sports Net. Montes is a tough fighter with power, so I expect bombs-away action.”
Fox will be making the third start of his 2016 campaign, stopping Paul Valenzuela Jr. in the fifth round on July 21 in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
Fox, a 24-year-old former amateur standout, is currently riding a six-bout stoppage streak having kicked off this year’s campaign with a fourth-round stoppage of former middleweight contender Milton Nunez on May 8, 2016, in Lakeland, Florida.
Fighting out of the boxing hotbed of Barranquilla, Colombia, Montes is returning to battle following a fourth-round knockout of Edinson Jimenez on June 16, 2016, in his hometown.
This will be Montes’ second fight in the United States. Fighting in Winter Park, Florida, on September 18, 2015, Montes drilled Wilky Campfort to the canvas in the opening stanza before being stopped by the once-beaten contender in the second round of a memorable battle.
